Sandra is Scared

Jean Wickham

A response to Tantas Cosas Asustan, Tantas

"So many things scare. So many."
The future and the past

Truth
And many pretty lies.
Denial and Realization and Pain.

Dark corners.
Whispers and darting eyes
That won't connect.

The unknown scares us,
With uncertainty and doubt
Like the smell of rain.

Religions.
Gods of different names.
Flames
Suspending ash in the air,
Tossed into the night
Like confetti.

Hate
When it began with Love.

Measurements of time scare.
Each with their own
Particular Dread.
Fate scares.

Happiness
Is the moments between time
And the sky,
Seen with kites.
